Tarot to go
Not knowing what else to do, I took out my two tarot decks, the Universal Waite Tarot Deck and Doreen Virtue’s “Healing with the Fairies Oracle Cards.” With three being my number, I decided to draw three cards from each deck twice, a total of twelve cards. Since one plus two equals three, I figured my answer would be there.
First on the list was Key West: reversed Creative Expression, Rise Above Problems, reversed Be Honest With Yourself; reversed Death, reversed Six of Swords, reversed Eight of Wands; reversed Raising Your Standards, reversed Stand Your Ground, reversed Make Music; Three of Pentacles, reversed Two of Cups and reversed Three of Wands. All the reversed cards may have been indicative that I was trying to go backwards with my life. I would have problems, but I could rise above.
Fort Lauderdale seemed like a viable option: reversed Look Inside Yourself, Romantic Partner, Make Music; King of Wands, reversed Queen of Wands, Ace of Pentacles; reversed Kindness, reversed Peace of Mind, reversed Detoxification; reversed Five of Wands, Page of Cups and The Devil. I’d be getting fucked up, becoming paranoid, around a group of not-so-nice people, but isn’t that to be expected with a romantic partner in the music scene? It was the reversed Queen of Wands that bothered me.
Though it had tested me already so, I laid out the cards for New Orleans: reversed Miracle Healing, reversed Financial Flow, Laughter; Ten of Wands, reversed Temperance, reversed Justice; Miracle Healing, New Location, reversed Romantic Partner; Ten of Wands, Nine of Cups and reversed Ten of Pentagrams. The inevitable was shown in the new location, as Keiser and I were already having problems, and I had been feeling the loss of financial flow since I stepped foot in the city. What lie ahead with the trouble in temperance and justice though?
To round it out, I picked situational cards: Kick Up Your Heels, Moving Forward Fearlessly, reversed Trust Your Intuition; reversed Wheel of Fortune, reversed Knight of Pentacles, Six of Pentacles; Awaken Your True Self, reversed Visualization, reversed Magic of Nature; reversed Three of Swords, Five of Pentacles and reversed Two of Swords. Nature would take its turn for the worse towards me, and I would have a problem listening to the voice inside my head. All I could do was have fun and step into the situation without fear.
For some reason, the King and Queen of swords held my attention, with trees and water, butterflies and seagulls. The king had a devil on his shoulder, mostly blue with highlights of orange and purple. The queen had an angel on her armrest, a cap of clouds swirled with a butterfly crown, orange and red with mostly white.
What would it all mean? How would it all come together? I was still confused but I knew my time in the city was running short.
